Job description:

The position of Detailer shall be responsible for the completion of the applicable design, the generation of fabrication drawings for plant use, as well as the generation of bills of materials used by purchasing to procure parts.  The Detailer will coordinate work output with the Application Engineer and Production Manager to assure design intent is met and that assemblies may be effectively produced.  The Detailer function shall also be responsible for the generation and updating of a schedule for their work, as well as updates to the master production schedule on a weekly basis.                                                                                                                                                                                                 


The goal of the Detailer position is to efficiently develop and document fabrication drawings and bills of materials for production and purchasing.  The Detailer position is expected to take initiative relative to improving processes, working from similar projects, creating templates for repeat use, or otherwise taking steps to increase personal as well as overall production effectiveness.  As the company CAD expert, the Detailer should be examining current software/hardware and outside options for company investment to improve the effectiveness of this or adjacent functions.


  • Read and interpret plans and specifications
  • Work with Application Engineer to understand design intent
  • Develop Fabrication Drawings for Production use
  • Develop Bills of Materials for Purchasing
  • Coordinate project schedules with Application Engineering, and Production
  • Develop Detailing Schedule on a weekly basis
  • Provide updates to production schedule
  • Develop templates for re-use
  • Develop processes/software upgrades to increase productivity
  • Work with Application Engineering and Production to develop product/part modifications to improve product/production cost basis, quality or speed
  • Develop drawings s required to support Customer Service/Replacement parts requests
  • Actively utilize company software & IT infrastructure to maintain project documentation and facilitate coordination with other company functions
  • Update fabrication drawings to reflect as-built conditions


  • 2-year Degree in CAD or equivalent experience


  • MS Office Applications: WORD, EXCEL, OUTLOOK,
  • AutoCAD 2D
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Self starter. Work without direct supervision.
  • Desire to improve/upgrade capabilities as well as learn new skills that will advance productivity and efficiency.
